A note to friends, family, and supporters

Ways to help.

People do not trust campaigns. They trust the people they already know. A word from you to your neighbor beats a hundred dollars of advertising, because your neighbor believes you and tunes out the ad.

Here is the math that wins a county

If 100 supporters each reach 5 people they know, and each of those reaches 5 more, watch what happens.

100
you
500
their circle
2,500
one more layer
12,000+
a quarter of the way

Four layers of five gets you past 12,000 people. That is a quarter of the way to the number that wins. Now imagine 400 of us instead of 100.

That is how a name spreads across Delaware County without a big budget. Not from the top down. From neighbor to neighbor. So there is one rule under every ask on this page:

Do the thing, then ask one more person to do it too.

The 5-person challenge

Read it. Do one thing. Pass it to five people.

That tail is the engine. Send this page to five people you know in the county right now.

How to use this menu

Do not try to do all of it. That is how a willing person gets scared off. Pick one to three asks that fit who you are and what you have time for.

And remember the ladder. The person who takes a yard sign this month is the person who knocks doors next month. Small asks first, then climb. Each ask is marked with rough effort so you can find your fit:

Quick 5 to 15 minutes An hour A real but small commitment Ongoing A role you grow into

This is the most important category. Everything else supports this.

  • Quick Text five friends a short note in your own words with the website. Then ask each of them to text five more.
  • Quick Take ten business cards. Hand one to each of your ten nearest neighbors. Say one sentence about why you are with Ryan.
  • Quick Send one personal email to your friends and family. Not a forward. Your words, your reason.
  • Quick Post why you support Ryan in your own words, with a photo of you. A personal post beats a share every time.
  • Quick Add the campaign website to your social media bios for the season.
  • Quick Mention it at your next coffee, card night, book club, or small group. You do not have to give a speech. Just bring it up.
  • Ongoing Share one campaign post a week with a one-line personal intro on top.
  • Quick Take the community survey at ryangrissinger.com/survey, then send it to five people.
  • An hour Come to an event and bring one person who has never met Ryan. Bringing someone new is the real assignment.
  • Quick Wear the shirt in public. The gym, the grocery store, your kid's game. Be ready to answer "who's that?"
  • An hour Visit or staff our table at a festival or the county fair.
  • Quick Snap a photo at any event and post it. Tag the campaign so we can share it.
  • An hour Be a friendly face at a house party so first-timers feel welcome instead of lost.
  • An hour Come with Ryan to a county commissioner meeting. Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30 AM, second floor of the Historic Courthouse, 91 N. Sandusky, Delaware. Watch how the county actually runs. It changes how you talk about it.
  • Quick Put a yard sign up the day signs are available. Early signs signal momentum.
  • An hour Ask three neighbors to take a sign too, and deliver them yourself. This is a multiplier, not just a sign.
  • Quick Put a magnet on your car.
  • Quick If you own a business or know someone who does, ask about a sign in the window or the lot.
  • Quick Have a high-traffic corner or a big front yard? Offer it for a larger sign.
  • An hour Host a house party. You bring ten friends, we bring everything else.
  • Quick Introduce Ryan to a group you belong to. Rotary, your church, the HOA, a union local, a parent group.
  • Quick Connect Ryan to one specific person who should know him. Name the person and make the intro.
  • Quick Invite Ryan to speak for five minutes at your club or association meeting.
  • Quick Write a short introduction email connecting Ryan to someone with reach or influence you already know.
  • Quick Make a donation of any size at the donate page.
  • Quick Become a monthly donor. Predictable money lets the campaign plan instead of scramble.
  • Quick Sponsor one specific thing. A run of yard signs, a tank of gas for canvassing, pizza for a phone bank night.
  • An hour Ask five people to chip in twenty-five dollars each. A wide circle of small donors shows more support than one big check.
  • An hour Host a fundraising coffee at your kitchen table.
  • An hour Take photos or video at events.
  • Ongoing Help with graphic design for print or digital.
  • Quick Bake or bring food for a volunteer event. Fed volunteers stay longer.
  • An hour Drive Ryan or a group of volunteers on a busy day.
  • An hour Watch kids during a volunteer event so parents can pitch in.
  • An hour Help with data entry or cleaning up contact lists.
  • An hour Write a letter to the editor of the Delaware Gazette. A real resident's voice carries.
  • Quick Read a piece of our copy and tell us how it lands with a normal person, not a political junkie.

This is the work that moves the win number. It asks more, and it matters most.

  • An hour Knock doors with us for two hours, ideally in your own neighborhood where you know the streets.
  • An hour Make calls from home for an evening. We give you the list and the script.
  • An hour Send texts from your phone to a list we provide.
  • Ongoing Adopt your precinct. Be the go-to person for your few streets from now to Election Day.
  • Quick Check your own voter registration, then get five other people to check theirs.
  • An hour Be a friendly poll greeter on Election Day.
  • Ongoing Recruit two more people to do voter contact alongside you. Turn one volunteer into three.
  • Quick Follow every campaign account today.
  • Quick Comment on posts, not just like them. Comments spread further than likes.
  • Quick Share one video with a personal line on top.
  • Quick Write a genuine post about meeting Ryan or why you are in.
  • Quick Tag three friends who live in the county on a campaign post.
  • Quick Join the email list, then forward the signup to three people.

The one thing to remember

Every ask on this page has a hidden second half: and bring one more person with you. We do not win by asking a few people to do a lot. We win by asking a lot of people to do one thing, and then to pass it on.

Pick your one thing. Then hand it to someone else.

Do the most important thing: pass it on.
