First commissioner meeting in the books
Last week was one of the busiest weeks of the campaign so far. Here's what's happening.
What We Did
I attended my first Delaware County Commissioner meeting on Monday night. I'm not on that board yet, but I believe in showing up and doing the work before asking for the job. I met one of the county staff members afterward and had a great first conversation. I plan to keep attending these meetings regularly.
I also spent the week in coffee meetings across Delaware County, getting to know people in the community and in the local Democratic Party. Building relationships one conversation at a time is how a grassroots campaign works, and I'm grateful for every person who's taken the time to sit down with me.
On Friday I attended Delaware First Friday in downtown Delaware. I met some new people and had a chance to talk about the campaign in a casual setting. These community events are exactly where this campaign needs to be visible.
We also launched a voter survey this week, both paper copies and a digital version on the website. I want to hear directly from residents about what matters most to them. If you haven't filled it out yet, you can find it at ryangrissinger.com/survey.
What's Coming
This week is packed:
The Central Ohio REALTORS PAC (CORPAC) screening is March 17. This is one of several endorsement conversations happening this spring.
Meet the Candidates Night, Genoa Township is Wednesday, March 18 at Genoa Township Hall. This is a big one. If you're in the area, come out. Having familiar faces in the room makes a real difference.
The Delaware County Democratic Party meeting is Thursday, March 19, featuring Judge Zias and Justice Brunner. I'll be there.
I'm speaking at the Big Walnut Progressive meeting this Saturday.
And there's more ahead. I've added an event calendar to the website at ryangrissinger.com/calendar so you can see what's coming through spring and summer. Community events, candidate forums, party meetings. It's all there and it will keep growing.
Good News
The US 23/I-71 connector and data center content is still spreading. Between Facebook and TikTok, those posts have now passed 75,000 views combined and they're still generating comments, shares, and new followers every day.
This tells me something important: people in Delaware County are hungry for clear, factual information about the issues affecting their daily lives. The educational, journalistic approach works. I plan to keep producing this kind of content on other county issues soon.
Speaking of data centers: the Sunbury Zoning Commission meets on March 23rd, and I plan to be there. This is a chance to talk with voters, hear their questions about the data center development, and keep the conversation going. If you want to understand what's happening with this issue firsthand, come out.
We also have new campaign materials ready to go. Buttons, a trifold brochure, a half-sheet literature piece, and a finalized yard sign design. We're testing these in the field now and will refine the messaging based on what resonates. More printing is coming.
What I Need
Volunteers. This is the number one thing I need right now. We're entering the phase where there's real work to do: handing out literature, attending events, helping with outreach. If you've been thinking about getting involved, now is the time. Reply to this email or text me at 614-203-9405.
Donations. I'll be honest: campaigning is expensive. Printing, events, materials, outreach. Every dollar goes directly into reaching more voters. If you're able to contribute, you can donate at ryangrissinger.com/donate
Spread the word. Share a social media post. Forward this email to a neighbor. Mention the campaign at your next community event. People need to hear a name seven times before they remember it. Every mention counts.
The Bottom Line
Delaware County is one of Ohio's fastest-growing counties. Our population has quadrupled since 1980, and we're projected to nearly double again in the next 25 years. That growth is happening because this is a beautiful place to live and people want to be here. But growth without a plan creates problems instead of opportunities.
That's why I'm running. Plan the growth. Protect what matters.
More next week.
